Our first day in Canada is over!  It was wonderful!  We saw Orca whales, totem poles, a Buddhist temple, China Town, and Stanley Park.
Everyone is enjoying themselves.

Good morning Families,
We are dying to hear more news from Western Canada.
Has anyone gotten a phone call yet?  Any tid-bits you would like to share?
Ridia & Stewart Dearie- Lydia's parents

I haven't gotten a call yet but I'm very glad that we're getting emails from Bette.
Debbie Galdamez

I got a call from Hannah yesterday (Monday) around 10:30a.m.  She said they were having a blast, but that it was really chilly!  She was glad we had packed some warm clothes!  I think I'm the one that's homesick...  How's everyone else holding up?
Stacie Burdge

I also got a call from James and Rachel stating that they are having a blast.  The kids were at the mountain (picnic) and they were calling from a pay phone.  I am missing them also.
Grace E. Titus-Wilkins

Abbey has called several times and said that she is having so much fun.  She said the whale watching was awesome and that the grizzly bears were really neat as well.
She said it was warmer today and she was looking forward to rock climbing which she loves and then swimming.
Jennifer Burnett

I haven't heard form Becca yet and miss her a lot.  I do hope to hear from her soon.

Since we haven't heard from Stefan, we are assuming that he isn't missing us and that he is having a great time.
Denise

I finally heard from Becca this morning, 8:30 our time.  She sounded tired but said she was having a good time.  She enjoyed the gondola ride and the bears.  She also talked about being at the lake and the legend of a sea monster in the lake.  She also said the food was good.

I know I told Rene' not to call.  I think I'm missing her more than I thought.  She doesn't need to call.
Mary Kronlage

We're doing just fine.  She seems to like writing about me in her journal.  She was giving me a hard time on the climbing wall today.  She was good, and likes beating me apparently.
Ms. Jenny

Hey Mom!  I'm having a great time in Canada!  I can't wait to get back and tell you all about my adventures!
Rene' Kronlage

We have heard from Mitchell a couple of times.  Both times were very short.  He says he is having a good time.

I am Hailee's Nana and I haven't heard from her.  From all the emails everyone is having a wonderful time.  I am so happy about this wonderful adventure!

Yesterday we learned about the wolves and bear dogs of Alberta, and today we're hiking, doing laundry, shopping (of course), and swimming in the hot springs.  For the first time, students are sleeping in communal rooms.  Tomorrow we're going to the ice glacier.  Wish you were here (in a way), but this experience is teaching most of them some good lessons in responsibility.

Hello Tidewater Parents!
We are leaving Banff tomorrow morning and traveling to Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump where we will learn more about the Blackfoot tribe.  We will be staying in teepees for two nights.  Then it's off to Drumheller where we learn about dinosaurs and stay in tents.

We heard from Justin, again today.  The group is in Buffalo Jump.  Justin indicated that the weather is very hot.  He said that it was a five-hour drive to get there.

I hope everyone is surviving without your young one.  It's amazing how much they drive us crazy but as soon as they are gone we miss them.  Only three more days to go.

See you soon!  We haven't had access to the internet until tonight, and it's bedtime!
Ms. Jenny

I heard from Anna on Wednesday of this week and she is fine.  She said she had a few stumbles with rocks during hikes over the past couple of days and has made many new friends.  During a late night visit to the bathroom with a friend during the night, they thought they saw a cougar or bear.  It was late and they were using flashlights.  They later laughed when they realized it was a shadow of a trashcan.

We pick up Lydia on our way to the beach tonight- I know I need a beach vacation after two long weeks without her.
Her sister doesn't return from Australia until Tuesday.

Just wanted to let you know that we are bringing your child home.

Brent called me a few days ago and said he was having a wonderful time!  He did see a whale, and is hoping he got a good picture.  He liked the bears and Banff.  He said he was getting used to the Canadian $1.00 and $2.00 coins.  Now, he is on his way home!
See you at the airport!
Kathy Kersell, Brent's Mom
